NGC 7000, also known as the North America Nebula, is a spectacular emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. Its distinctive shape resembles the continent of North America, particularly the Gulf of Mexico region. This nebula is one of the brightest in the night sky and can be observed with binoculars under dark skies.

The nebula's red glow comes from hydrogen gas being ionized by the energy from nearby hot stars. The dark lane that gives the nebula its characteristic shape is caused by a cloud of dust that absorbs the light from the glowing gas behind it.
